New York is not just Manhattan, although that’s what many who live outside the state may think. Now, I’ll be honest, I’ve never been fly fishing in New York, nor to any of the fly shops in New York, but that doesn’t mean I can spot good water when I see it (or pictures of it anyway). Truth is, there is a tremendous amount of amazing fly fishing to be had in New York State. The Adirondacks, the Catskills, and the list goes on. And the variety of water is amazing as well.

So, the next time you’re thinking of trying some different water in a different state, give a thought to New York’s fly fishing. And as always, don’t forget to check out the hatch charts and visit one of the local fly shops and give them your support… that’s right – buy something!
